Container Template

A Container Template represents a container or growing bed used by Cycle Plants.

Linking the same Container Template to plants across multiple Cycles allows GroBase to recognize that those records refer to the same container setup. This makes it easier to review which plants used the Container and during which growth stages it was assigned.

A Container Template can also be linked to a Grow Medium Mix. This allows you to record the Resources included in the mix and keep an Amendment Log for changes made to that specific container over time.

Use Cases

Container Templates can be used in different ways depending on what you want to track.

Here are some examples:

• I have a large soil bed and want to track every plant grown in it.

  Create a Container Template that represents the soil bed.

  Assign the Container as a plant’s Starting Container or select it when recording a transplant. The Container Template page will then show the plants linked to it and the stages where it was used.

• I want to track plants grown in a specific Grow Medium Mix.

  Create a Grow Medium Mix that contains the Resources used in the substrate, then assign that mix to the Container Template.

  Plants linked to the Container can then be associated with that specific container and Grow Medium Mix.

• I want to keep a history of amendments added to a reusable container.

  Assign a Grow Medium Mix to the Container Template, then add an Amendment Log whenever Resources are added to the mix.

  Each log records the date, Resources, and amounts used.

Container Fields

Field	Required	Description
Container Name	Yes	The name used to identify the Container.
Description	No	Additional information or notes about the Container.
Type	Yes	The Container type, such as plastic, fabric, polybag, metal, terracotta, or other.
Unit	Yes	The measurement unit used for the Container size, such as gallons, liters, or ounces.
Size	Yes	The size or capacity of the Container.
Grow Medium Mix	No	A reusable mix of Resources associated with the Container. Refer to Grow Medium Mix.

How to Add a Container Template

1. Open the navigation menu and select Templates.

2. Find the Containers section.

3. Select Add Container.

4. Complete the Container Fields.

5. Select Save to create the Container Template.

To create another Container Template immediately, select Save and Add Another.

How to Edit or Delete a Container Template

1. Open the navigation menu and select Templates.

2. Find the Containers section.

3. Select the Container Template you want to manage.

4. Select Edit.

5. Update the fields and select Update to save your changes.

To delete the Container Template, select the trash icon and confirm the deletion.

Review the associated Cycle Plants and Amendment Logs before deleting a Container Template.

Container Template Page

The Container Template page displays the Template details, Grow Medium Mix, Amendment Log, and associated Cycle Plants.

Details

The page header displays:

• Container name

• Container type

• Container size

• Grow Medium Mix

• Description

• Edit action

If a Grow Medium Mix is assigned, select its name to view the Resources included in the mix.

Amendment Log

The Amendment Log records Resources added to the Grow Medium Mix assigned to this Container.

Each log entry displays:

• Log name

• Date added

• Number of Resources

Select a log entry to view the Resources and amounts recorded in it.

Note

A Grow Medium Mix must be assigned to the Container before Amendment Logs can be added.

Attention

At least one Resource Template must exist before you can add an Amendment Log.

How to Add an Amendment Log

1. Open the Container Template page.

2. Find the Amendment Log section.

3. Select Log Entry.

4. Enter a Log Name.

5. Select the Date.

6. Select a Resource.

7. Enter the Amount.

8. To include another Resource, select Add Row and enter its information.

9. Select Save to create the Amendment Log.

To delete an Amendment Log, open the log entry and select Delete.

Associated Cycle Plants

The Associated Cycle Plants table shows the Cycle Plants linked to the Container Template.

Each row displays:

• Plant

• Starting Container status

• Seedling stage status

• Vegetative stage status

• Flowering stage status

• Autoflower stage status

A check mark indicates that the Container was assigned to the plant as its Starting Container or during that growth stage.

Select a Plant name to open its Cycle Plant page.

Grow Medium Mix

A Grow Medium Mix is a reusable group of Resources and amounts that represents the substrate or growing medium used in a Container.

Linking a Grow Medium Mix to a Container Template allows you to:

• View the Resources included in the mix

• Associate the mix with plants using the Container

• Record amendments added to that specific Container

Attention

At least one Resource Template must be created before adding a Grow Medium Mix.

How to Add a Grow Medium Mix

1. Open the navigation menu and select Templates.

2. Find the Containers section.

3. Select Add Grow Medium Mix.

4. Enter a name for the mix.

5. Select a Resource.

6. Enter the amount used.

7. To include another Resource, select Add Row and enter its information.

8. Select Save to create the Grow Medium Mix.
